I got into an accident in a rental car and I don't have insurance?

-I rented a car and i was driving at night time in the turnpike. Suddenly i see a big animal running crossing the road and i was in the left lane. I moved the steering wheel to the right and the road was still humid from an earlier rain. When i turned the wheel i lost control and i started going circles like 3 times. I called my insurance and i find out it was cancelled a couple days ago for no payment and i didn't know anything about it. Know im in the situation of no insurance and no rental insurance either. Whats going to happen now? Never been in a car accident and now im in this big problem. Please i need some advice of whats the next step.Well you are on the hook for repairs, and downtime for the rental while it is being repaired. On top of that you may find your drivers licence getting suspended should the accident get reported to the dmv or dot.

You are at the mercy of the rental company. You do as they say. Also if you rented it on a card and cant cover the cost of repairs you might want to kill that card really quick. If its a debit, pull your cash out. They will attempt to get whatever they can from that card.

Now most insurance has a small window of time after nonpayment that the policy can be salvaged, brough current. Is it imposible to reinstate the policy?Obviously you have to deal with the rental company, find the cost of damages, and make payments out of your pocket. This is what insurance is for, since you did not have your own and did not purchase rental insurance there is nothing else left.

Longshot is if you have a gold or platinum credit card and paid for a rental with it, some of these cards do cover rental car insurance.
Sometimes you have to take the risk of hitting an animal, Cause now you wrecked a car, and could have got injured and injured some one else. If im not mistaken, i think you will have to pay a $500 uninsured motorists fee+the damage for the car and what ever else is added.

But sorry to hear about the accident, and hope things work out for you.
Advice? Sure. Be prepared to pay for any damage you caused. Canceled and you didn't know it? Fat chance. Surely you knew you didn't pay for your insurance when you should have? be an adult... face the consequences. I doubt that here is going to be able to bail you out...even if they wanted to.
