Generally your insurance certificate will tell you, under the section that says whether you can drive other vehicles. Some insurers will cover you to drive other cars only, some will cover you to ride a motorbike not belonging to you too. This extension to your policy will most likely be meant for emergencies, so get that clarified too.

-I'm from texas and will be moving right outside of texas to Hobbs new mexico. I'm 16, and just finished my driving classes, and already received my Learners license (permit), I was wondering what I would have to do to get a New mexico license, and if there was any possible way to get it before my 6 month of having my permit was over, because while living there I need to get myself and family to school, plus me to work.

-okay so i got my permit in the begging of September 2010. i took drivers ed 1st semester of school so from sep-jan i drove every other week with my instructor and then probably every weekend for at least 30minutes with my mom. then second semester started and i wasn't in drivers ed any longer. my classes got tougher and most of my friends had their license so i stopped driving. we need 50hours in order to take the road test and i got about 15/20 hours but that was all from first semester. now its summer and i really want my license. plus my mom is buying a new car so i'll have her old one to drive to school but i need my license for that otherwise i have to walk home. i was planning on taking the test maybe early august. i live 2miles from the school so its not even a hard drive but im still nervous of busy roads. The reason i ask this is because last night was the first time i drove in 5months and i still did the basics well but my confidence isn't there and neither is my parking. i heard we have to up or downhill park on the drivers test so im gonna work on that next drive out.

-What state do you live in? It varies.It depends on the state. I live in VA and you have to hold a permit for 8 months. And test and get a license at 16 3 months. Or if ur 18 or 19 you only have to hold a permit for 30days. Plus if ur under 18 u got to finish a course of drivers ed. But this is VA. It depends what state ur in. Look on the dmv website for ur state.

Minor car accident: no police report, don't know who fault?
-That is small and old street. I drove on the far right and ready to turn right. I drove slowly. But there is an other truck on the left lane behind my car. They went a little faster than me and then my mirror (on the driver side) scratch her truck a little bit on her passenger door side. I thought it was her fault but she claim that is my fault because I go over her lane a little bit. I also thought she went onto my lane but actually I don't know. Can a DMV road tester literally have you pull over and then take the wheel from you?
-I took my road test yesterday and I failed it. The tester had me pull over within 5 minutes of driving and had me switch places with her and she drove us back. She said I was impeding traffic by driving too slow (which I was doing under guidance of others who had taken the test, I was doing 20 on a 35 mph road).
My question is, can they take control like that without your permission and so soon within the test?
She was a different race than me, so I'm also wondering if race played a part in it. That could just be my hard feelings speaking though...They do not have to allow you to continue driving. However, I am not sure if they are allowed to drive the car without your permission. You might have the option to park the car and walk back. I do not think it would be a good idea, since you would still fail the test, and retrieving the car could be a problem.

Another statistical indicator used to set rates is the kind of vehicle. Yes, Corvettes are involved in more insurance claims than Malibus. It's not that the sportier car is more hazardous by itself, but just seems to attract the kind of driver who's more likely to generate a claim.

Strange hit and run... whos at fault?
-Long story short, I was driving my uncles car (RI Plates) in CT on Route 2, when a green Jeep Cherokee V8 took over using the merge lane. I was following the Jeep on the single lane road for a mile or two when for no apparent reason, the guy slammed his breaks in front of me and stopped in the middle of the road. I tried doing the same but my cars tires locked and with no traction/steering control, I rear ended the jeep. Whats mind boggling is there was no traffic light, intersection, car or anything in front of him. Why would he just decide to come to a complete stop.
He pulled his Jeep off the road and walked toward me, I got out the car, he asked if anyone was hurt, I replied no. He told me instantly, "I gotta go, I got a flight to catch". WTF!? I was surprised, I asked him to exchange paperwork, he dint say much and just got into his car and left. I managed to get the first four number of his MA plate for sure but the last 2 are iffy.
I just dont understand him deciding to stop in the middle of road for no reason. Taking off, I'd imagine he had no insurance, license or registration. Fact remains, I rear ended the guy. So even if I hypothetical find the person, would it be his fault or his insurance would pay for my uncles car?You are 100% to blame for the accident itself, whether he was driving illegally or not is irrelevant. As a driver you have an obligation to keep a distance that will give you sufficient time to stop if the car in front of you stops quickly, you failed on that. Why he stopped doesn't really matter, if a kid ran out you still would have hit him.
So if your uncles car is damaged, his insurance will pay for it (assuming he has collision). You should pay the deductible since it was your fault. His insurance would also be paying for the other car too if the guy didn't take off, so you are lucky there.

Police ticketed me for no motorcycle license on my scooter but DMV dont warning me anything?
-Yesterday my scooter 150cc was accident by slipped, i fell over on road and had my deep cut above my eyebow but overall its not too serious or major, just a minor injury and the police came over to help me and then he said you don't have motorcycle license. I told him really? it is only scooter and it is not a motorcycle and he said I still need motorcycle license and I ask him why cant DMV stop me and tell me that I need a motorcycle license before they gave me a tag. DMV is suppose to stop me and say they cant give me tag without motorcycle license...how dare that i don't even know that scooter need motorcycle license and the police ticketed me and now i am treat like a crime even though i don't know about scooter law and the DMV don't say a word but gave me a tag for scooter. I had been rode scooter for 8 months, and I do not know why scooter slipped when i turn left at slow 20MPH, police said he couldn't figure it out why it made scooter slipped. I got into an accident in a rental car and I don't have insurance?
-I rented a car and i was driving at night time in the turnpike. Suddenly i see a big animal running crossing the road and i was in the left lane. -im 17 and i got stopped for speeding
and the police give me a ticket for ( no proof insurance )
not a speeding ticket .! ...
When i got stopped i didnt have insurance .. but now i got one .. whats going to happened to me lol someone help ... i got stopped at los angeles CA by ( California highway patrol ) my court date is 7/19/11 ...lol,....What's going to happen? A good psychic can answer best but I believe that You will be fined for driving without insurance. The fact that you have it now is good but not good enough for them to simply forgive the ticket. lol indeed.

I was rear ended, and the person who hit me refuses to call their insurance company. What can I do?
-I was rear-ended by some stoned/drunk girl on the way home from the 4th of July fireworks. I have called my insurance company, which is also the girl's insurance company and they have deemed the vehicle totaled and also that we can get a loaner. However, to proceed, they need to talk to the girl who hit us who has still yet to answer their calls or call her insurance company.

-I have had alot of troubles witht he place that was supposed to fix my car. I had to take it back to the place 4 times because the completely messed things up like the paint job was way off on the parts they repainted. Pieces were falling off and all kinds off crazy things that were just ridiculous. Failed my driving test....?
-I failed my driving test because 2 lanes were merging into one, there was a car in front of me who slammed his brakes and was going to turn right. I slowed down obviously (i was like 2 car lengths behind) i checked my blind spot/signaled because of the 2 lanes merging into one. Try to practice with qualifies driving instructor or your can practice with any other person who can be your relative/ friend but make sure that your are comfortable with him
Try to find a quiet area without a lot of other traffic when you first start your driving practice, even if it means going a bit out of your way. Starting in a busy area with complicated traffic signals will hurt your confidence and you will get nervous.
Plan your practice routes with your instructor to ensure you will get experience all of the required traffic signs, maneuvers and traffic patterns etc.
Always take your driving manual with you on your practice so that you can refer to it for any technical details that you can't recall clearly.
Practise manoeuvres until you can carry them out without any minor faults.
Read highway code book, to know about traffic sign etc
Things to remember while appearing for the test :
Before appearing for the test at least once have a mock driving test with your instructor.
Avoid listening to 'failure stories'. This would make you more nervous. Just focus on your performance.

For maneuverability, get some cones or milk jugs with poles in them so you can practice at home or in a parking lot (make sure you set them up the way they will be set up for your actual test). For the driving part, go a mile or so under the speed limit so you don't speed at all, use turn signals at least 50 feet from where you wish to turn, don't slam on your breaks (unless someone cuts you off), completely stop at all stop signs; Rolling stops will automatically fail you. When turning left at an intersection, don't creep too far out into the road because they will dock points from you. Also, read the booklet you were given when you got your temps over for anything else you should know. Other than that? Just drive a lot with your parent/gaurdian/friend/etc. and practice! Good luck!
Do NOT freak out!! Do EXACTLY what the instructor says AS SOON as you can!! Look left, then right, then left again before you pull out after stopping at a stop sign. Don't break too hard, don't accelerate too fast. AND REMEMBER!!!!!!! You CAN NOT check your mirrors too much!!!

Try to practice with qualifies driving instructor or your can practice with any other person who can be your relative/ friend but make sure that your are comfortable with him
Try to find a quiet area without a lot of other traffic when you first start your driving practice, even if it means going a bit out of your way. Starting in a busy area with complicated traffic signals will hurt your confidence and you will get nervous.
Plan your practice routes with your instructor to ensure you will get experience all of the required traffic signs, maneuvers and traffic patterns etc.
Always take your driving manual with you on your practice so that you can refer to it for any technical details that you can't recall clearly.
Practise manoeuvres until you can carry them out without any minor faults.
Read highway code book, to know about traffic sign etc
Things to remember while appearing for the test :
Before appearing for the test at least once have a mock driving test with your instructor.
Avoid listening to 'failure stories'. This would make you more nervous. Just focus on your performance.
Think positive about your driving test. Thinking can build an actual difference to overcoming driving test nerves
It's ok if you make mistake - Your mistake could be minor driving fault, wont necessary fail you in test. If you make a mistake, keep calm and focus on your driving.

For maneuverability, get some cones or milk jugs with poles in them so you can practice at home or in a parking lot (make sure you set them up the way they will be set up for your actual test). For the driving part, go a mile or so under the speed limit so you don't speed at all, use turn signals at least 50 feet from where you wish to turn, don't slam on your breaks (unless someone cuts you off), completely stop at all stop signs; Rolling stops will automatically fail you. When turning left at an intersection, don't creep too far out into the road because they will dock points from you. Also, read the booklet you were given when you got your temps over for anything else you should know. Other than that? Just drive a lot with your parent/gaurdian/friend/etc. and practice! Good luck!
Do NOT freak out!! Do EXACTLY what the instructor says AS SOON as you can!! Look left, then right, then left again before you pull out after stopping at a stop sign. Don't break too hard, don't accelerate too fast. AND REMEMBER!!!!!!! You CAN NOT check your mirrors too much!!!
Just try to stay calm and dont get all worked up. The first time I went in for my test I failed because I was speeding. . .and it was because I was so worked up and flustered. lol. Good luck on your test

-Hello, I have my California interim drivers license and the real license hasn't been mailed to me since the last three months. I waited patiently and recently I started to worry since they haven't mailed it to me yet, and even worse, my interim license recently expired.
I discovered the possible root of my problems lying in the fact that I used a P.O. box for my address on my interim license (long story) and this isn't allowed.
Would I have to request an address change with my local DMV, and then will they begin the process of mailing me my real license? Or does anyone have any helpful info they can relate to me? How do i get a new title for a car that was left by a deceased relative but the old title is lost & only POA?

-I live in Iowa and I am turning 16 in late august. There are no drivers Ed courses around my county except for a few but they are 20 miles away. This vehicle will be very difficult and expensive to insure and would be best avoided or at best get a quote from your insurer on the vehicle and tell them it is Cat C
It may not yet have been repaired at all and had a new V5C log book issued as if it had been it would have had a Vehicle Identity Check done VICit means ..DO NOT BUY ..its a scrapper ..repaired and not even inspected ....dont even look at it

-ok, so on forth of july i got in a car accident and i wasent insured because i had berly registerd the car under my name on thursday before the crash. so this *** hole was stoped at a red light and just backed up into my 99 honda civic totaling it. but sence i dint have car incurance, and this guy had full coverage,i dint file a police report stating wat happend. First driving lesson..?
-Okay so my 17th birthday is next week and i'm going on my first driving lesson on my birthday. I bought myself a car, i have it all done up and i love it! I can't wait for the day when i can spin about whenever i want and to wherever i want =] But i sat behind the wheel for a bit today and the thought of being in charge of it scares the life out of me haha How many driving lessons do you think it will take for me to calm down about it? Thanks in advance xHaha I was pretty nervous about commanding a car for the first time too. My first time driving EVER was with a professional instructor and I was worried if he would be able to tell that I'd never driven before... so I lied and said I had done some puttering around town.
Anyway... Here are some tips I'd recommend for the first time:
- Wear thin soled shoes, that way you'll be able to feel the gas pedal more, and will be less likely to tromp on it and scare yourself. Cars are pretty responsive when you hit the gas so easy does it!
- When you're going to accelerate, the car will roll on it's on when you let off the brake. Let the car start to roll a little before you step on the gas to ensure a smoother launch.
- Drive with someone who won't over react! My sister went out driving with my mom for the first time, and my mom tends to make mountains out of molehills so to speak... needless to say my sister came back crying. My driving instructor was calm, cool, and collected. When I'd do something wrong, he'd simply say "Hey, do you realize what you did back there, yeah it wasn't too good. You should probably have done blah blah blah..."
- Practice in a noncrowded area to become more confident and gain a feel for the car (how the turns feels, how receptive the brakes are, how fast you can go before you feel like you need to back off etc). Country roads and parking lots are best for this.
- Get out there into some traffic! You'll never become confident if you do the above ^ all the time. You can't just drive in secluded areas. There are going to be drivers who tail gate you and etc, and you want to get used to this and know how to react so that when it does happen, you wont panic.
- Practice emergency menouvers such as a shoulder drop off, and skid control. This will give you the confidence in knowing what you need to do should an emergency arise.
All in all, it took me about 2 or 3 lessons of an hour and a half each before I was confident behind the wheel.

I had my permit (driving with an adult) for a year, and when I got my car finally decided to drive. So, I drove for two months before getting a license -- which I got Monday of last week -- and it's a cakewalk.
If you're worried about the actual driver's Road Test, don't be. It lasts 10-15 minutes, and the only thing to be nervous about is the actual anticipation. The driving is simple.
So, just focus. And take your time. There's no real number you can label on how much practice you need, just reach for confidence.
Anyway... Here are some tips I'd recommend for the first time:
- Wear thin soled shoes, that way you'll be able to feel the gas pedal more, and will be less likely to tromp on it and scare yourself. Cars are pretty responsive when you hit the gas so easy does it!
- When you're going to accelerate, the car will roll on it's on when you let off the brake. Let the car start to roll a little before you step on the gas to ensure a smoother launch.
- Drive with someone who won't over react! My sister went out driving with my mom for the first time, and my mom tends to make mountains out of molehills so to speak... needless to say my sister came back crying. My driving instructor was calm, cool, and collected. When I'd do something wrong, he'd simply say "Hey, do you realize what you did back there, yeah it wasn't too good. You should probably have done blah blah blah..."
- Practice in a noncrowded area to become more confident and gain a feel for the car (how the turns feels, how receptive the brakes are, how fast you can go before you feel like you need to back off etc). Country roads and parking lots are best for this.
- Get out there into some traffic! You'll never become confident if you do the above ^ all the time. You can't just drive in secluded areas. There are going to be drivers who tail gate you and etc, and you want to get used to this and know how to react so that when it does happen, you wont panic.
- Practice emergency menouvers such as a shoulder drop off, and skid control. This will give you the confidence in knowing what you need to do should an emergency arise.
All in all, it took me about 2 or 3 lessons of an hour and a half each before I was confident behind the wheel.
