Police ticketed me for no motorcycle license on my scooter but DMV dont warning me anything?

-Yesterday my scooter 150cc was accident by slipped, i fell over on road and had my deep cut above my eyebow but overall its not too serious or major, just a minor injury and the police came over to help me and then he said you don't have motorcycle license. I told him really? it is only scooter and it is not a motorcycle and he said I still need motorcycle license and I ask him why cant DMV stop me and tell me that I need a motorcycle license before they gave me a tag. DMV is suppose to stop me and say they cant give me tag without motorcycle license...how dare that i don't even know that scooter need motorcycle license and the police ticketed me and now i am treat like a crime even though i don't know about scooter law and the DMV don't say a word but gave me a tag for scooter. I had been rode scooter for 8 months, and I do not know why scooter slipped when i turn left at slow 20MPH, police said he couldn't figure it out why it made scooter slipped. The road is dry and weather is perfect.

I have to go court on Aug 4 to answer why i don't have motorcycle license. Is there any way I can explain court house about DMV did not tell me about having motorcycle license before they can give me a tag?

By the way I live in Tallahassee,FloridaYou CAN have a motorcycle tagged in your name without having a MC license. Just tell them you didn't understand you needed a MC license and it would look good if you went and got one before you go to court.
Most states require a motorcycle license for any scooter 50cc or more.
Oh wow that's. Crazy but yes for a scooter/ moped u do need a moto licences ....epecially in nj or other states who require it...they should have charged u right there and then to get the licences and registration so u could be good ..I think dmv is at fault and semi u r too ...cuz its in all handbooks for dmv nation wide ...not putting u on blast sir but I'm only speaking the truth ...plz don't take it to heart .... but more side dmvs fault for not issuing u a license especially if u paid for it and or they said u don't need it ..if u had proof purchasing the licence bring it and any other credentials u may need to.
Try this:

I registered the scooter with the DMV but did not realize that I needed a motorcycle license for the scooter. As soon as the officer told me that I needed a motorcycle license, I immediately applied for one. Here is my license.

And a copy of the safety certificate from the course I took so that the paramedics won't have to scoop me off the pavement after my next accident.

I don't suggest you try either of these with the judge:

It's the DMV's fault.

It's not my fault the scooter slid. I was going 20. I really was. Somehow magical made the scooter slide anyways.
