What do i need to file a car insurance claim?

-So I'm about to get my windshield replaced and the place I'm going to will file the car insurance claim for me. What do I need to bring with me?Call your insurance company. Tell them how and when the windshield was broken. They may recommend a shop to fix / replace, or you can ask if the company you want to use is acceptable.Just your insurance card. If you can afford it, you are much better off to just buy the windshield. Filing for repairs on your insurance is going to make your insurance go up.



You also need to be careful depending on where you are taking your car. Just because they file the claim with your insurance doesn't mean the insurance company will pay the full amount. You need to call a few places and get a price quote and find out how much the place you are going is charging. If they try to charge your insurance company some ungodly amount, they won't cover it. I'm always leary for places that just say they will file it for you, so do your homework and be aware of what the repair costs.
Tell them how the windshield got broke. They will take it from there.
